LUNA SEA’s new song “Make a vow” made us cheer.

Make a vow (2020)

LUNA SEA has been one of the most iconic and legendary bands on the Japanese music scene since its formation in 1989. When you ask about a Visual Kei band in Japan, there are a lot of people who mention their name. This year, 2020 is LUNA SEA’s 30th anniversary since the band was formed so that LUNA SEA was originally scheduled to tour all over Japan from February to May, but due to COVID-19, most of the shows were cancelled.

The world has completely changed and we have still suffered from its difficulty. In a world filled with grief, LUNA SEA has brought us such a wonderful new song “Make a vow”.

Especially in recent years, LUNA SEA has been actively working on social issues, such as donating all the proceeds of their song “PROMISE” and holding charity concerts for supporting the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on 11th March, 2011. In 2017, LUNA SEA has committed global environmental issues by using hydrogen fuel cells to power all of the electricity needs for playing musical instruments. And LUNA SEA has risen again in order to unite our lonely hearts.

A sense of unity in becoming a part of the story

Due to the impacts of COVID-19, this song was recorded at each member’s house instead of meeting each other. That’s why you can see the relaxed style of members. Also, what we fond of is a format of release. Members posted one part per day in a relay format, and lastly the completed song was released. We enjoyed their daily submissions every day, and felt as if we were a part of LUNA SEA’s story.

Day 1: SUGIZO on guitar

Day 2: RYUICHI on vocal

Day 3: J on bass

Day 4: INORAN on guitar

Day 5: SHINYA on drums

Members’ mature performance

LUNA SEA’s ability is overwhelming. Ryuichi’s heavenly voice, the gorgeous guitars, the heavy drums and bass supporting melody, and the kindness of everyone else are conveyed in this song. Once you hear it, you’ll find yourself soothed by its melody.
