The musical “BE MORE CHILL” starring Kota Yabu of “Hey! Say! JUMP” started on July 25, 2022.

About the Musical “BE MORE CHILL”.

“BE MORE CHILL” is a musical that is popular all over the world. Based on the 2004 novel of the same name by American author Ned Vizzini, the musical was created in New Jersey in 2015 with a script by Joe Trucks and music and lyrics by Joe Iconis.

The songs released on YouTube became popular, especially among young people, and the cast album released in 2015 became a worldwide hit, rising to the top 10 on Billboard’s cast album chart 97 weeks after its release.

The show had a successful Off-Broadway run in August 2018, followed by a successful On-Broadway run in February 2019. It was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Original Score that year. The following year, in May 2020, the show was canceled in London due to COVID-19, but resumed in May 2021, impressing audiences.

Yabu was active as “Ya-Ya-yah” before he joined “Hey! Say! JUMP”.

Kota Yabu won the leading role in the first “BE MORE CHILL” performance in Asia and Japan. He is a member of the J-pop group “Hey! Say! JUMP” since 2007.

Prior to joining “Hey! Say! JUMP” in 2007, Yabu was popular as the main vocalist of “Ya-Ya-yah” and made his CD debut in May 2002 with “Yuuki 100% / Until the World Becomes One”. His singing ability and presence were outstanding since then.
