Why are Kubota and Tsumabuki in Venice?

The Film “A Man” receives accolades at Venice International Film Festival.

The film “A Man,” in which Kubota and Tsumabuki appear, has been nominated for the Orizzonti Competition section at the 79th Venice International Film Festival (2022). It seems that they visited Venice with director Kei Ishikawa and attended the premiere screening.

At the 73rd Venice International Film Festival held in 2017, Director Ishikawa’s film “Folly Records” was also selected for the same section, and at that time, Satoshi Tsumabuki’s performance as the lead actor was widely talked about both in Japan and abroad.

“A Man” is a film adaptation of a full-length novel by author Keiichiro Hirano. The film depicts the confusion of Rie Taniguchi, played by Sakura Ando, after she learns the shocking truth: “The husband she thought she loved was a completely different person.” Satoshi Tsumabuki plays the role of lawyer Akira Kido, who is trying to get to the bottom of the truth about “a man” who was not her husband.

The movie “A Man” will be released on Friday, November 18, 2022.
